The Maine CDC Breast and Cervical Health Program (MBCHP) coordinates the delivery of breast and cervical cancer screening and follow-up diagnostic services to underserved women statewide. MBCHP is a small but mighty team of seven who together form a culture where every team member’s input is not only invited but a valued element that helps our program shine. We are looking for an impact-maker who wants the work they do every day to directly impact the health outcomes of Mainers.
As the MBCHP Medical Care Coordinator, clear and thoughtful communication skills are vital as you assist clients, coordinate with medical providers and billing departments, and collaborate with other State of Maine agencies and community partners. You will often be speaking with clients while they are trying to navigate stressful health challenges and in need of compassion, patience, and sensitivity to the subject matter of cancer and female anatomy. This position coordinates and processes provider medical billing and claims submissions and works to resolve errors and discrepancies in medical claims, requiring critical thinking skills. The Medical Care Coordinator also provides assistance to medical providers regarding individual claim submission as well as conducts research utilizing the Automated Client Eligibility System (ACES), Maine Integrated Health Management Solution (MIHMS – MaineCare claims processing system), and the MBCHP Data Management and Reporting System (DMRS).
This rewarding position requires strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Core Responsibilities:
As a key member of the MBCHP team, your core responsibilities will include:
• Perform all aspects of the program’s enrollment process.
• Perform data entry.
• Coordinate multiple MBCHP reports.
• Coordinate claims resolution and payment authorizations for breast and cervical services.
• Answer and return client and provider calls.
• Assist with researching, tracking, diagnosing, and troubleshooting MBCHP-related issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
A four (4) year combination of education and experience in medical eligibility programs and/or experience which demonstrates interviewing and data gathering skills as needed to form basis for judgments in eligibility determinations, claims resolutions, and payment authorization.
PREFERRED CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel proficiently.
• Experience in medical billing and claims.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and coding
• Familiarity with MaineCare and Medical insurance
