Saccarappa Elementary School seeks a dynamic Assistant Principal to join our school leadership team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in elementary education, practical leadership experience, and a passion for promoting a positive and inclusive school culture. This individual will collaborate with staff, students, and families to support student achievement, uphold school-wide behavior expectations, and create a welcoming environment.

Saccarappa Elementary is a K-4 school of approximately 400 learners and 80 dedicated staff. In addition to literacy and numeracy, our curriculum includes art, music, STEAM, physical education, and library classes. Technology resources and skills are integrated across the curriculum and school settings. Our Title I school is proud of its knowledgeable and compassionate Multilingual, Special Education, MTSS, and Gifted and Talented programs.

Staff collaborates to provide support for a wide range of diverse learners. Professional Learning Communities meet weekly during early releases to study best practices and refine the art of teaching. We take pride in the partnership we have with our families, the Saccarappa PTO, and numerous other community members who make Saccarappa School a unique place to teach and learn.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of PBIS, BARR, and RTI frameworks to enhance student success.
  • Foster and maintain a collaborative, positive school culture through restorative practices and relationship-building with students, staff, and families.
  • Assist in supervising, evaluating, and developing teachers and staff.
  • Support student discipline by ensuring a trauma-informed, positive, and supportive approach that aligns with PBIS and restorative practices.
  • Work closely with the principal to develop and execute school improvement plans and academic initiatives.
  • Provide leadership in student services, including special education support and intervention strategies.
  • Assist with daily school operations, including scheduling, safety procedures, and crisis response.
  • Serve as an advocate for the well-being of students and staff, creating an environment where all members of the school community feel valued and supported.
  • Partner with families, community organizations, and district leadership to enhance student learning and engagement.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience. Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational setting, such as mentoring teachers, leading professional development, or serving in an administrative role.
  • Possession of a valid Maine 045 certification (Assistant Principal) or comparable certification, or the ability to obtain certification within an agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the community.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment that supports all students.
