Pay Grade: 16 $24.27 - $28.16 hourly
This rate does include $1/hr. institutional stipend

This rate does not include any applicable night, weekend shift differentials, or Premium Overtime.

Schedule and Hours: Based on the needs of the Facility and candidate’s availability.

When you become a Correctional Officer at Maine Correctional Center, you’ll provide security and mentorship in the support of the treatment and rehabilitation of adult residents and join a team who supports each other and our communities.

Maine DOC provides you with the practical, hands-on training to gain the proficiencies you need to do your job effectively and ensure your professional success.

Minimum Qualifications: HS diploma or equivalent, at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license.

Paid Training:

  • Learn de-escalation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and defense techniques.
  • Completion of the Basic Corrections Training Course
    (organized and funded by DOC)

  • Coached and mentored by a Field Training Officer (FTO).
  • Ongoing support and professional development.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

  • At time of hire: Valid Driver’s License
  • Prior to attaining Permanent Status: Maine State Driver’s License
  • Completion of the Basic Corrections Training Course
    (organized and funded by DOC upon hire – includes mandatory exposure to chemical agents)
