Kennebec Behavioral Health, established in 1960 and named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, has an immediate opening for a Peer Support Coordinator to join our Certified Community Behavioral Health Center program. The Peer Support Coordinator will provide direct support to KBH clients and maintain responsibility for the supervision of Peer Support Specialists. This individual must have lived experience related to the position and experience practicing one-on-one and/or group peer support.
The primary role of the Peer Coordinator will be to provide peer-valued supervision and support to peer support staff along with providing direct peer support services to members via one-on-one support and group facilitation. The Peer Coordinator will facilitate/lead peer staff meetings as needed, and develop trainings on a variety of topics to support learning of the team. The position would oversee projects and/or grant implementation for new peer support initiatives, and help with incorporating peer support specialists in KBH programs.
Requirements: Certification as an Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPPS) and have at least 1 year in direct service in that role. A valid driver’s license is required. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, special education, or related field is preferred. At least 2 years of experience in a peer support role; and, at least, 2 years of experience in group facilitation and/or one-on-one peer support. Supervisory/management experience is also preferred. Must be an individual with lived experience.
