Job Summary: The Charge Entry Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate entry of charges for outpatient and physician services while performing assigned duties with emphasis on patient satisfaction, accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism. Data may include demographics, patient billing, charge codes and insurance information gathering.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Perform timely and accurate charge entry for the following departments, but not limited to: Diabetes, Nephrology, Pain, Rheumatology, Wound, Rehab, ED physicians, Radiology physicians, Pathology and One Day Surgery.
2. Provide clerical assistance to the Patient Account Manager and Revenue Integrity Analyst.
3. Design and create new spreadsheets in order to better organize information. Research billing and charge entry issues or questions.
4. Collaborates with department leaders to ensure information/data received is accurate.
5. Reconcile charges by batch to confirm accuracy of data input.
6. Request supporting documentation for corrections as needed.
7. Work collaboratively to resolve errors associated with charging process, identify and report error patterns, and when necessary, assist in design and implementation of workflow of changes to reduce errors.
8. Maintain an accuracy rate at or above 95%.
9. Maintain knowledge of billing charge entry and CPT/ASA Codes.
10. Comply with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
