Downeast Community Partners is hiring for a Finance Director to join their leadership team in Ellsworth, ME. Downeast Community Partners (DCP) is a nonprofit organization, focused on bringing community resources together to improve the quality of life and reduce the impact of poverty in Downeast communities.  DCP has over 150 employees and multiple locations within Hancock and Washington Counties.  DCP offers a variety of programs that support clients and families through all life stages, beginning with birth.  www.downeastcommunitypartners.org 
 
The Finance Director will lead an accounting and finance team and will be responsible for oversight of all financial matters for all agency locations and programs. The Finance Director will report to the Executive Director.  
 

Position Responsibilities Include:

    • Accounting Department operations and internal controls procedures.  
    • Financial reporting- monthly reports for the board regarding the financial decisions and financial status of the agency.   
    • Budget management and preparation, working with departments and managers as well as reporting to the Board. 
    • Interpret and explain financial statements and other financial issues to management and the Board of Directors. 
    • Supervise and lead an accounting and finance team, overseeing responsibilities, providing guidance and support as needed.   
    • Overseeing and managing agency contracts, monitoring the allocations and the funds needed.   
    • Ensuring the agency is in accordance and in compliance with GAAP and MAAP. 
    • Monitor daily cash balances and planned cash flow.   
    • Grant Accounting- overseeing all government funding and processes.  
    • Facilitate the bi-annual review of the Agency-wide Risk Assessment. 
    • Facilitate the annual audit process.   
    • Monitor and review investments, working with the Agency’s Broker. 

Position Requirements:

    • 7-10 years of experience in a finance or accounting department with supervisory experience.   
    • 3+ years of experience in a management position within finance / accounting.  
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field. 
    • Nonprofit experience is highly preferred.
