Plumbing Instructor

Sanford Regional Technical Center (SRTC) - Sanford, Maine

We Need You! The Next Generation of Plumbers Awaits!
SRTC is seeking a passionate, forward-thinking educator to lead our Plumbing Program (Plumbing - CIP 46.0503). This rewarding full-time position begins August 26, 2025, spanning 178 days through June 2026.

Grow Something Extraordinary: In this dynamic two-year program, students dive into Southern Maine's thriving plumbing industry – from residential construction sites and commercial buildings to innovative sustainable water systems, high-efficiency installations, and cutting-edge mechanical systems. You'll guide them in mastering industry-standard techniques while developing highly marketable skills in modern plumbing, system design, troubleshooting, business operations, and sustainable water management that are increasingly in demand across our region.

Year 1 immerses students in transformative hands-on projects at our state-of-the-art facilities, where they'll master pipe fitting, blueprint reading, equipment operation, and develop comprehensive understanding of plumbing systems and codes. You'll facilitate partnerships with local contractors, plumbing companies, construction firms, and mechanical businesses to provide students with immersive, real-world experience in everything from basic residential installations to complex commercial plumbing operations.

Year 2 challenges students to tackle advanced plumbing projects, collaborate with successful industry professionals, and earn valuable certifications – including preparation for the State of Maine Journeyman's License Exam and OSHA 10 certification. Under your guidance, they'll gain sophisticated skills in system design, deepen their understanding of the Uniform Plumbing Code, and learn strategies to manage complex plumbing projects from conception to completion. Your students will graduate with authentic work experience, technical proficiency, and the comprehensive skills to thrive in Maine's plumbing sector – whether joining established companies, launching their own plumbing businesses, or pursuing advanced education.

As the program instructor, you'll create an engaging, safe learning environment that inspires student excellence while effectively delivering the nationally recognized National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Core and Plumbing Level 1 curriculum along with International Association of Plumbers and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) Uniform Plumbing Code. Your passion for working with young people, combined with your plumbing expertise, will position students for exceptional opportunities. You'll collaborate with other innovative SRTC programs for interdisciplinary learning experiences while leveraging opportunities for live work projects from within and outside the Center.

SRTC serves over 670 motivated students from eight diverse sending schools across southern Maine: Kennebunk, Marshwood, Massabesic, Noble, Sanford, Traip Academy, Wells, and York.
