Academic Tutor (1:1)
Overview:
The Saco School Department is seeking a qualified individual to provide in-person academic support to a student utilizing an online curriculum during the summer session. The role involves facilitating the student's understanding of online materials, assisting with assignments, and reinforcing learning objectives to promote academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person academic support aligned with the student's online learning program.
  • Assist the student in understanding content, completing assignments, and building skills.
  • Monitor engagement and document progress throughout the summer session.
  • Collaborate with supervising educators to align support strategies with educational goals.
  • Maintain a supportive and structured learning environment conducive to the student's academic development.

Qualifications (Candidate must hold one of the following valid Maine certifications):

  1. Elementary Teacher (Endorsement 020)
  2. Early Elementary Teacher (Endorsement 029)
  3. Teacher of Children with Disabilities (Endorsement 282)
  4. Educational Technician III

All candidates must also hold a current Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) approval from the Maine Department of Education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing one-on-one academic support to students.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and digital instructional tools.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation:
Hourly rate based on certification and experience, aligned with the Saco School Department's summer pay guidelines.
