Long Term Substitute Cook (Temporary)

RSU 24 is immediately seeking a food service specialist to temporarily join our team at Peninsula Consolidated School in Prospect Harbor. Working eight hours per day, the food service specialist II prepares, cooks, and serves breakfast, lunch and after school snacks according to child nutrition guidelines. This position requires related experience, the ability to work independently, and knowledge of food safety and sanitation. Successful candidate should be reliable, friendly, a team player and adapt easily to change. The successful candidate will be supported by the Nutrition Director and assisted by a part time staff member daily. Pay is competitive.
Essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

• Responsible for creating, maintaining, adjusting and monitoring a safe, effective working kitchen
• Prepares for properly, thaws, cooks, seasons, serves and records foods for consumption for all students and staff dining at the school
• Handling and preparing all foods in accordance with the sanitary requirements and State of Maine regulations for good nutrition
• Professionally cleans equipment, work area, tables, pots and pans, knives and other cooking related tool
• Demonstrates a team approach, through interaction with other staff, students and their family

Education & Experience: High school diploma (or GED) and 3 years of relevant food service experience preferred.
Criminal History Records Check is required upon hire.
Position is expected to last throgh the end of the current school year.
Position is open until suitable candidate is found.
