Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is seeking an Advancement Assistant to provide administrative support to our Development team. Responsibilities include: data entry and database management; ensuring highly accurate and consistent information and donor confidentiality; assembling fundraising mailings and donor stewardship outreach; creating mailing lists and donor lists; processing donor acknowledgements, event invitations, and other materials; event and meeting assistance; basic prospect research; and other fundraising and administrative support activities.
Reporting to the Advancement Manager, this is a full-time (37.5 hours/week), non-exempt, benefits-eligible position that begins ASAP. After an initial orientation period, this work can be partially done remotely but requires some regular hours on site at the East Boothbay office for donation processing and mailing responsibilities. As in-person events resume, on site hours will increase and this position will require working occasional evening or weekend events, and may involve light travel. The pay rate will be between $20.51-$27.17/hour, depending upon experience.
The successful candidate will become a “power user” of our database software, currently Raiser’s Edge. They will be meticulously detail-oriented, organized, possess strong computer skills, and have a basic understanding of charitable giving and standard development office procedures. A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year's experience in a Development office support position are required, as well as a high comfort level with Microsoft Office and database software. Other necessary qualifications include: excellent written and verbal communication skills; a professional, friendly demeanor; strong customer service skills; and the ability to follow instructions and manage projects independently. Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, event coordination, and email marketing platform experience are preferred.
