Position Title: CLIMB Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

SUMMARY:
Join an innovative team of educators supporting students with special needs in a unique and specialized setting attached to a community school. To meet the needs of students with complex learning and developmental needs, Lewiston Schools has established a multidisciplinary intensive education program designed to support students with individualized programming while encouraging them to benefit from their peers and offer access to naturalistic teaching settings.
This role is part of a highly supported team building on a strong programmatic structure for all classrooms with opportunities to individualize and innovate. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) will work under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) to assist in the carryover and implementation of treatment programs, and care of individuals with communication disorders. The primary role of an SLPA is to support speech-language pathologists in their work, implementing therapy plans and carrying out specific tasks that help patients improve their speech, language, and functional communication.. This role offers opportunity for leadership and collaboration across disciplines in order to best support students.
Pay Range:
$30 - $35 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SLPAs will:
Work with students to carry out therapy sessions designed by the SLP, following specific instructions and guidelines to target speech and language goals.
Work directly with individuals, especially under supervision, to help with speech exercises, articulation drills, language comprehension, device programming, functional communication training, aided language modeling, or fluency improvement.
Assist in documenting student progress, tracking improvements, and note any changes in behavior or response to treatment - sharing with the supervising SLP for review.
Help maintain a structured, positive, and focused environment during therapy, ensuring clients remain engaged and motivated.
Help in preparing materials and equipment for therapy sessions, including language games, exercises, and educational tools.
COURSE OF YEAR & SCHEDULE:
This is a full time role working a program-specific calendar aligned to Lewiston Public School’s academic year with 6 weeks of full time summer services as well as additional summer professional learning days.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises students during therapy sessions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
