20 hrs/wk
Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Counselor to join their Patient Access Department. The successful applicant will collect all self-pay payments. This person will also be responsible for counseling patients as needed and assist with proper reporting and maintenance of accounts in an organized fashion.
Essential Job Duties:
- Contact all overdue accounts with a priority on accounts over $300.00.
- Make payment arrangements according to policy.
- Consolidate accounts according to policy.
- Counsel patients as needed and note on each account via the billing system.
- Patient complaints are to be handled immediately or as soon as possible and according to policy.
- Prepare Reports: Bad debt list (regular), free care list, Medicare bad debts, employee discounts, employee health and small balance adjustments.
- Send payment reports, itemized bills and suit authorizations to collection agency.
Requirements
Education or License:
1. Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
Availability Requirements:
Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
