The Town of Falmouth has an immediate opening for a Parks Assistant in the Parks and Community Programs Department. This position requires semi-skilled manual labor to operate a variety of equipment used in the maintenance of recreational fields, trails, town parks and facilities. The Parks Assistant is responsible for the upkeep of athletic fields, cemeteries, multi-use trails, playgrounds, and municipal facilities as well as the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of equipment. Daily work includes mowing, weed whacking, seasonal plowing, and ice rink maintenance. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Parks Supervisor.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, and 3-5 years experience maintaining municipal or school property, athletic fields, or landscaping maintenance. Must have the ability to operate trucks, trailers, and lighter motorized equipment safely and according to laws and regulations. Experience with athletic field maintenance and management, playground safety, and plowing is desired. Candidate must have a valid Maine driver’s license or the ability to obtain one, as well as an excellent driving record.
This full-time (40 hours) position offers a generous salary commensurate with experience.
