Full job description
South Portland is seeking a dynamic and experienced social worker to fill a long term substitute position. This role will be supporting students in special education with diverse social and emotional needs.
Duties Include:
Support of IEP social/emotional/behavioral goals and behavior plans of individual students.
Provide individual sessions to students on a regular basis.
Ongoing collaboration with behavior strategist, instructional strategist and classroom staff.
Co-leading therapeutic lessons to small groups of students, in conjunction with the classroom teacher.
Qualified candidates should:
Possess excellent communication skills
Knowledge of special education and IEP procedures preferred
Thrive on being part of a dynamic team
Understand how school-based social work services can impact a student’s academic
and functional performance
Be flexible
Having experience in trauma informed practice is preferred
Hold appropriate certification (LCSW preferred, LMSW-CC considered)
Experience with crisis triage preferred
This position is open immedidately, through the end of the 2024-25 school year.
