Special Education Teacher, grades 3-8
2025-26 School Year, FTE 1.0
Located a ½ mile from the Atlantic Ocean and 15 minutes from Portland, Loranger Memorial School is a 375 student, grades 3-8 school seeking a full-time special education teacher for students with emotional and behavioral needs. Our chosen candidate will work as part of a team of professionals comitted to providing quality programming for students in need of emotional and behavioral supports. They will have access to training and ongoing support, as well as regular consultation with district special education staff. The successful candidate should possess the following:
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Maine Department of Education CHRC (Criminal History Record Check)

Maintains or is eligible for Maine Department of Education Teaching Certificate (#282)
QUALIFICATIONS / JOB SUMMARY:
Conduct academic evaluations and classroom observations
Fulfill case management duties, including paperwork and consultation with classroom teachers
Consult with team members to provide integrated programming
Complete progress monitoring of all students on a scheduled basis
Provide direct instruction in reading, writing, math
Develop and implement Positive Behavior Support Plans
Supervise Educational Technicians
Knowledge of Chapter 101 regulations
Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and share best practices
Excellent communication with parents, teachers, administrators, community leaders and other stakeholders to promote and support student success
Demonstrated ability of understanding and supporting the academic, social, and emotional needs of students
Interest in participating in the school community outside of the classroom
Exemplary time management and organizational skills
