WEX is seeking a self-driven and analytical savvy professional to join their Line of Business Accounting team, located in South Portland, Maine. As an Accounting Manager, you will have the opportunity to supervise a team of approximately twenty professionals, streamline accounting processes and contribute to moving our business forward!
The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to:
Manage and provide accurate and timely closing of the books and records.
Assist in management of month-end closing process, ensuring a timely and accurate completion.
Provide oversight of accounts reconciliation process.
Review general ledger accounts to identify significant variance activity.
Manage and provide oversight to the Operational Payments Management Department, which includes Merchant Settlement, Trade Accounts Payable, and Partner Billing personnel.
Maintain proper control over all functional areas within Operational Payment Management, including segregation of duties, and appropriate backup and coverage
Provide information and assistance to the Company’s internal and external auditors.
Oversee daily accounting duties including journal entry creation, approval and posting.
Streamline the accounting processes and procedures to increase productivity and accuracy.
Develop and enforce the policies and procedures to mitigate financial risk and enhance the control environment.
Stay current with Company initiatives in order to ensure compliance with appropriate accounting treatment.
Participate in special projects impacting the accounting area
Respond to requests for financial information from internal and external customers.
Assist and lead special projects
Represent the accounting department on new initiatives.
Identify areas of reporting risk to the Company.
Assist in integration of accounting of new acquisitions in a controlled, compliant and efficient manner as applicable.
