Freeport High School is seeking an Office Secretary to work in the School Counseling Office. The Office Secretary serves as the registrar and is responsible for managing student records, supporting the counseling department, and providing administrative assistance to ensure smooth operations. This role requires strong technology skills, understanding of school information systems, and ability to communicate well with all stakeholders. This position requires demonstration of organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, and professionalism. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in an educational environment and have a passion for supporting students and school staff.


Key responsibilities:
  • Serves as the School Registrar: Maintain and update student records, process new student registration and transfers.
  • Assist school counselors in all work tied to the School Counseling Office including scheduling appointments, processing transcripts and grades, and maintaining and organizing office records.
  • Manage administrative process for student 504 plans.
  • Support development of Master Schedule.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and effective communication skills.
  • Fulfills all performance responsibilities of an administrated secretary in a high school setting.

Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  2. Prior experience in a school setting and/or administrative role is preferred.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems.
  4. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  5. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-past environment.
  6. Knowledge of FERPA and student confidentiality policies.

This position is for 199 days which includes both school year and limited summer hours.

Requirements:

Must hold valid CHRC from the ME Dept. of Education.
