Administrative Assistant to the Firebird Foundation
Overview
Position Type: Full-Time (36 hours per week), Exempt Salaried Position
Starting Salary: $50,000 - $53,000, based on experience

The Firebird Foundation for Anthropological Research is a 501c3 private foundation located in Phillips, ME. The Foundation’s work focuses on the preservation of culture, oral literature, and the traditional ecological knowledge of indigenous people around the world. The Foundation achieves these goals through various charitable endeavors and projects, including but not limited to the Borneo Research Council, the Sabah OralLiterature Project, the Bhutan Oral Literature Project, and the Firebird Archives and Collections project. The Administrative Assistant to the Firebird Foundation will work directly with the President, the Executive Director of the Bhutan Oral Literature Project, and other staff members in the facilitation of various projects of the Foundation by maintaining the membership and listserv databases, processing online publication orders and payments, coordinating charitable grants, assisting with coordination of research, language, and archive materials, maintaining the information on the Foundation’s website, and other administrative duties and special project needs, as assigned.
Education Requirement:
- College Education (preferred) or 5+ years working in a similar setting performing office administration duties.
- Prior experience working with or for non-profit organizations is a plus.
Skills Required:
- Computer applications: QuickBooks, Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat
- Highly proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Capacity to work independently and with a broader team
- Discretion and integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information
- Self-motivation to take initiative and manage time to accomplish tasks in an efficient manner
- General knowledge of technology and comfort with web-based or digital platforms
