Located in Brunswick, Maine, Bowdoin College boasts a student population of almost 2000. Our Dining Services Department makes everything from scratch and are consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining! We have our own butcher shop, bakeshop, and organic garden that all supply food to our two dining halls and three retail locations.
The Dining Aide for Thorne Dining Hall is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of key kitchen areas, with a focus on the dish room and pot and pan cleaning. The sanitation duties in this role include scrubbing floors, walls, and employee restrooms, as well as ensuring all kitchen equipment, including cooking tools, refrigeration, and storage areas, remain spotless. This role also offers opportunities to assist with various kitchen and catering tasks as needed. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, with a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to thorough, high-quality cleaning.

- The hourly rate for this position is $18 per hour.

Education/Skills Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Effective communication skills and customer service orientation
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
- Entry-level position; no prior work experience required
- Relevant experience in food service industry highly preferred
- Current ServeSafe certification or willingness to attain through Bowdoin College

Standard Work Days and Hours
- This is a full-time, onsite academic year position working 40 hours/38 weeks (0.73 FTE)
- The work schedule is Sunday 8am-4pm, Monday – Thursday from 7 am to 3 pm (Fri & Sat off)
- This is an essential role with requirements to work occasional overtime, holidays, and during weather emergencies, in addition to major college events and weekends (i.e., Parent’s Weekend, Commencement, and Reunions)
