This is a full-time position located at 19 Maine Avenue, Bangor under the supervision of Denise Bemis. This opportunity allows partial telework with management approval.
This is only open to those with promotional status in the Department of Health and Human Services.
Core Responsibilities:
This is a supervisory role in planning, directing, and coordinating support enforcement, collection, recovery, and related court activities within an assigned district. Responsibilities include:
• directing and overseeing assigned program staff engaged in support enforcement and recovery activities.
• overseeing and coordinating the preparation, filing, and execution of cases with the Family Division of the Maine District Court System.
• developing, implementing, and monitoring program policies, rules, and regulations.
• reviewing and assessing program performance.
• coordinating district operations with other resources and agencies.
• resolving support enforcement and recovery activity issues within the region.
Minimum Qualifications:
In order to qualify, you must have a six (6) year combination of training, education, and/or experience which would demonstrate knowledge of support enforcement and recovery activities to include at least two (2) years of experience in support enforcement and/or recovery.
Preference will be given to applicants with 2 or more years’ experience as a State of Maine Human Services Enforcement Agent.

The Office for Family Independence, Division of Support Enforcement & Recovery (DSER) is responsible for the development and implementation of the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures necessary to ensure that all non-custodial parents are contributing to the economic support of their children. Responsibilities include establishing paternity, locating non-custodial parents, establishing, and enforcing child support orders and representing the Department’s interest in the Maine District Court in matters pertaining to child support. This position requires occasional travel.
