Oxford Hills Middle School serves approximately 500 students in grades 7-8. OHMS has two campuses located about 2 miles apart, one in South Paris and one in Oxford. The successful candidate will be passionate about instruction, student achievement, and best practices.

OXFORD HILLS REGION
The Oxford Hills School District (MSAD 17) comprises the towns of Norway, South Paris, West Paris, Oxford, Waterford, Harrison, Hebron and Otisfield. MSAD 17 shares vocational resources and accepts students in its Oxford Hills Technical School programs from the RSU10 School District towns of Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner. Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education is located within the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
The Oxford Hills offer a variety of outdoor resources for anyone wishing to enjoy the region, whatever the season. The area boasts more than ten lakes and ponds for outdoor recreation, a land trust with hundreds of acres for skiing, snowshoeing, and is in close proximity to several downhill skiing areas! Community support for Oxford Hills athletics and extracurricular activities is very strong and represents the robust regional commitment to the students and schools within the district.
Expectations of Oxford Hills School District Staff:

School/Program-Specific Information
Oxford Hills Middle School is looking for a teacher with a strong background in literacy intervention to join our team. The right candidate is passionate about helping students unlock their full potential through the power of reading.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with administrators and classroom teachers to identify students who require reading intervention.
- Conduct assessments and utilize data to determine the specific reading needs of individual students.
- Develop and implement targeted reading intervention plans for small groups of students, focusing on their specific areas of struggle.
- Employ evidence-based instructional strategies and materials to improve students' reading skills, comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary.
- Monitor and track students' progress regularly, adjusting intervention strategies as needed to ensure their growth and success.
- Work closely with teachers to provide ongoing support and guidance in implementing effective reading strategies within the classroom.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, intervention plans, and assessment results.
- Collaborate with parents/guardians to provide feedback on students' progress and strategies for continued support at home.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading Specialist, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification or licensure.
- Proven experience in providing reading intervention to students, preferably at the middle school level.
- In-depth knowledge of literacy development, reading instruction strategies, and intervention techniques.
- Strong analytical skills to assess students' reading abilities and progress.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, and students.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates and engages students.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping struggling readers succeed.
