SUMMARY: Performs warehousing and distribution to facilitate bulk purchasing of school supplies and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)
Unpacks items received and inspects for damages or defects
Verifies accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing or measuring items and comparing size to invoices, packing slips, purchase orders or bill of lading for any discrepancies or damages
Communicates daily with the Business Office regarding the status of orders received
Manages and keeps accurate records of any items returned or exchanged
Maintains inventory of stocked consumable and non-consumable items
Stores all materials in a safe and secure manner
Fills requisitions from inventory or by approved ordering
Disposes of outdated records
Maintains central receiving in a neat and orderly manner
Assumes responsibility for deliveries of supplies and equipment to and from schools
Provides a monthly report to the Business Office and the Buildings and Grounds Office of general supply items distributed to the schools
Maintains assigned delivery schedule from the Director of Buildings and Grounds
Performs pre and post trip inspections on delivery vehicle
Removes rubbish from schools
Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated aptitude for assigned responsibilities
Ability to read and write reports and maintain accurate inventories
Ability to operate a delivery vehicle
Ability to operate computerized equipment and software for record keeping, ordering and inventory
Such additional qualifications as the Board of Education may deem appropriate

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move up to 80 pounds. The employee must be able to use 2-wheel hand truck, hydraulic hand jack, motor vehicle, and rolling flat cart for loads in excess of 80 pounds. The employee must be able to operate office equipment such as personal computer, copier, and fax machine.

State of Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) required, which is paid for by the district.
