Position Summary:
The Saco School Department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Special Education Teacher/Case Manager to join our dedicated team of professionals. This individual will be responsible for delivering specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals, maintaining compliance with all special education documentation requirements, and ensuring timely completion of all regulatory paperwork. The successful candidate will also serve as a lead collaborator within the school community, providing building-based support to teachers and staff and coordinating services across agencies to support student success
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Local Education Agent (LEA) and facilitator at all IEP meetings for the PreK-2 gradespan. Complete all special education documentation accurately and submit in accordance with legal timelines and district expectations.
- Maintain compliant, up-to-date student records and special education files and actively participate in assessments and evaluations as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary contact for coordinating services across all agency and school-based supports for assigned students.
- Uphold and model district educational philosophy, values, and academic standards.
- Supervise, support, and schedule educational technicians aligned to the student caseload, ensuring clarity in roles and expectations.
- Provide building-based support to general and special education teachers regarding accommodations, modifications, and implementation of IEPs.
- Actively support collaborative problem-solving teams and contribute to school-wide student support systems.
- Maintain positive, professional, and responsive communication with families, staff, and administrators.
- Participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as needed.
- Continuously pursue professional growth opportunities and stay informed on special education laws, practices, and instructional strategies.

-Other job-related duties as assigned by the Building Administrator (Principal) and Director of Instructional Support.
Qualifications: current Maine DOE Certification (282) or (035).
- Demonstrated experience with IEP development, progress monitoring, and implementation.
- Prior experience working with educational technicians and interdisciplinary teams preferred.
- Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
