POSITION SUMMARY:
The Nurse Practitioner will provide quality health care and emergency treatment at our Open Access Clinic. Health care includes: health promotions; prevention of disease and disability; identification of health problems; management of health problems; and referral with communication to the Patient’s Primary Care Provider. The Nurse Practitioner will practice medicine within the scope of their licensure and if applicable, under the Supervision of a KVHC Physician.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides primary patient care within established protocols, policies and regulations of the scope of practice to assure quality patient care.
- Shares “on-call” responsibilities with other providers to assure availability and continuity of care.
- Maintains accurate and complete patient health records to assure confidentiality and compliance with health care regulations.
- Interprets health data by identifying risk factors and provides wellness activities.
- Diagnosing and treating common diseases and human responses to actual and potential health problems.
- Counseling individuals and families regarding health care issues.
- Consulting and/or collaborating with other health care providers and community resources.
- Referring client to other health care providers and resources for identified health issues.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as required.
- Fully maintains professional decorum at all times.
- Performs tasks as required by the Medical Director or supervising physician to promote proper utilization of time and staff.
- Maintains accurate and complete patient health records to assure confidentiality and compliance with health care regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduation from a NLN accredited Nurse Practitioner program, MSN preferred,
- Active State of Maine License or ability to do so
- BLS, ACLS Certified.
- Certification by American Academy Nurse Practitioners.
- Must possess the ability to be credentialed and covered by FTCA Malpractice Coverage
- Valid State of Maine Driver’s license and ability to be insured by KVHC’s vehicle insurance carrier.
- Must be possess a clean criminal and DHHS background.
- Must be possess the ability and means to travel between clinics as needed.
