QUALFICATIONS: College education, high school diploma, or equivalent. Completion of medical assistant training program required. CPR, AED and BLS certified. Phlebotomy certification a plus. Minimum of one year experience in an outpatient medical clinic or hospital, medical office setting. Demonstrate the skills to provide age-appropriate care to the clients of the clinic. Demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to interpret information relative to the patients age related needs. Expectations: Attendance and punctuality necessary. Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team. Ability to problem-solve and be self-motivated. Must have a commitment to excellence and high standards. Must have excellent written and oral skills, strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills. Must have ability to multitask, manage priorities and workflow. Required to have versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and have acute attention to detail. Able to operate computer software/EMR and be super user. Expected to have strong interpersonal skills and ability to understand and follow written/verbal instructions. Able to work independently with little or no supervision. Required to have the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels and with internal and external customers.

MAIN FUNCTIONS: The Advanced Medical Assistant/Prior Authorization Specialist (AMA/PAS) is responsible for effectively, accurately, and confidently performing all required referrals for the Infusion Clinic, Primary Care and Family Medicine. Duties include contacting insurance companies of the required referral, notification to referring office, notification to the patient of the date and time of the referral, precertification when applicable, and follow up on outstanding referrals. Must forward all requested medical records to the appropriate physician offices. Follow up on outstanding referrals is required. Will work closely with Central Scheduling for in-house testing. Weekly reporting will be required on total referrals sent. Keeps manager apprised of issues; works under the PPM to coordinate scheduling to maintain efficient patient flow and quality care during clinic hours. Duties include recording and updating medical histories and contact information in patient files, scheduling patient appointments and performing standard care procedures like drawing blood, checking vitals or collecting lab samples.

This position requires orientation to the reception duties, to perform all duties of a Medical Assistant and of a Prior Authorization Specialist.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

FULL-TIME POSITION | 40 Hours per Week
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
