Falmouth Schools is seeking a full-time Grounds and Athletic Fields Maintenance worker to join our Facilities Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience working with landscaping equipment (mowers, tractors, brushcutters) helpful.
- Prior landscaping experience desired.
- Knowledge of cleaning materials and agents helpful.
- Valid DOE fingerprinting certification.
REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance and Transportation
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate a variety of mowers to maintain athletic fields and lawns; inspect tractor and mower for safe and proper operation; maintain equipment as needed, replacing fuel, fluids, and oil.
- Mow, edge, trim and rake fields; operate tractors, riding mowers, push mowers, light duty vehicles, blowers, sweepers, trimmers, edgers, and weed eaters.
- Rake, sweep, blow and pick up clippings, paper, and trash from school grounds and athletic fields.
- Prepare the athletic fields which will include dragging the baseball infield, chalking (lining) the fields according to specified dimensions, watering, setting bases, goals, etc.
- Perform field maintenance to include filling holes/depressions in turf/infield, adding clay to infield when necessary and inspecting the ball fields for proper safety.
- Provide snow removal of paths, walkways, campus roads, parking lots utilizing plow trucks, snow blowers, tractors, shovel.
- Ability to successfully and safely operate hand tools, power tools, light machinery, and light-duty vehicles is essential.
- Maintenance and upkeep of flower beds, ornamental plants and trees.
- Greenhouse and garden care (weeding/watering/pruning/transplanting)
- Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds, climb ladders and capable of doing various physical job functions.
- Perform other duties as requested.
