We’re seeking an experienced and proactive Cyber Security Specialist to serve as the trusted cyber security advisor to agency leadership and act as the subject matter expert on all matters of information security. What You’ll Do as a Cyber Security Specialist:

  • Lead Information Security Strategy: Serve as the central point of contact for security-related matters, aligning agency security strategies with enterprise-wide goals.
  • Risk & Threat Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks, threats, and vulnerabilities through ongoing assessments and proactive strategies.
  • Collaborate with IT & Agencies: Work closely with internal divisions and partner agencies to strengthen security postures, embed cybersecurity into business operations, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Advise on Policies & Standards: Develop and enforce information security policies, standards, and best practices that align with state and federal regulations.
  • Incident Response: Coordinate and lead investigations, response, and recovery during cybersecurity incidents.
  • Support Regulatory Compliance: Prepare agencies for audits, ensuring adherence to NIST frameworks and federal compliance standards.
  • Third-Party Risk Evaluation: Assess vendor security postures and ensure external partners meet security requirements.
  • Promote Security Culture: Engage stakeholders and agency leadership to foster a culture of security awareness and resilience.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in information security, cybersecurity consulting, or IT risk management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • In-depth knowledge of NIST standards (e.g., SP 800-53, 800-171) and federal data protection regulations.
  • Strong understanding of incident response, risk assessments, policy development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to pass background checks.
  • Preferred: Experience in managing security within consolidated environments, including shared data centers or recovery sites.
