CNA/Nursing Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:  To assist nursing personnel with patient care by performing simple, routine nursing care tasks.

SKILLS

1. Provide effective infection control practices.
2. Provide 24 hours care specific to the nurse's aide shift.
3. Measure vital signs as directed.
4. Prepare unit for patient admission, transfer or discharge.
5. Provide for the safety of patients properly from admission to discharge.
6. Assist in positioning patient for optimal comfort and safety.
7. Maintain a safe environment for patients.
8. Provide nourishment for patient.
9. Respond to patients’ intermittent needs.
10. Recognize and responds to priorities in patient care.
11. Assist in emotional needs of patient and family members.
12. Demonstrate proper usage and knowledge of equipment.
13. Obtain diagnostic specimen.
14. Recognize and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned.
15. Conform to dress code.
16. Aware of patient rights.
17. Transport patients as necessary.
18. Perform routine treatment procedures as directed.
19. Work in unison with other unit personnel.
20. Demonstrate flexibility to changing patient load.
21. Work as a member of the Nursing Department to help reinforce a culture of safety in the Nursing Department and organization wide.

 LEADERSHIP/INVOLVEMENT

1. Conform to policy and procedures in regard to attendance, working hours and punctuality.
