General Summary:

If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!As a Partner Relationship Manager at Unum Ventures, you will play a pivotal role in managing our external partner relationships. You will work collaboratively to develop and implement plans that align with our strategic goals, ensuring that our partnerships are strong, productive, and growth-oriented.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Partnership Management: Co-develop and execute plans to manage and enhance external partner relationships.Facilitate Strategic Discussions: Lead conversations around strategic alignment to ensure mutual goals are met.Remove Growth Barriers: Identify and eliminate obstacles that hinder growth and success.Project Management: Oversee and execute projects that align with Unum Ventures' priorities, working closely with internal teams to support the development of our offerings.This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of 3x per week on site at our Portland, ME or Chattanooga, TN campuses.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 7+years’ experience in the group insurance or similar industry preferred; added plus knowledge of the Insurtech, wellness or HR technology marketplace and emerging trends.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with internal departments to oversee partnership operational connections.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; a self-starter with a problem-solving orientation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills – both in presentation style with large groups and informally with smaller groups
  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically.
  • Drive, self-motivation, a consultative nature and be a great problem solver.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, influence, and persuade with internal and external partners.
  • Comfortable working with stakeholders across the organization with varied levels of seniority
  • Strong relationship management/conflict management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills. Must possess a positive, professional company image to external customers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day relationship with Ventures’ partners. Maintain ongoing relationships with key contacts to ensure that priorities are progressing per agreed to timelines.
  • Serve as Ventures’ offering subject matter expert, developing a deep understanding of the partner’s value proposition and solution offering. Support “Go to Market” strategy with key stakeholders by promoting awareness and clarity of partner solution offering. Coordinate periodic partner product training for market facing teams.
  • Partner with Marketing to ensure Go to Market teams have the necessary content and collateral to facilitate conversations with Unum Sales Teams and Brokers. Proactively review existing content for updating. Develop proposals for new assets based on needs of the business.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for competitive intelligence in supporting Ventures’ teams, conducting research in collaboration with Corporate Strategic Intelligence, monitoring the competitive landscape and sharing key actionable insights.
  • Facilitate business reviews and stakeholder ongoing engagement sessions designed to maximize alignment between Unum’s and Partner’s leadership teams.
  • Partner with Unum Product and Client Success teams to ensure we are finding ways to improve client experience as well as operating efficiency with our partners.
  • Develop and implement an effective, consistent, and repeatable Partner Management Program. Monitor engagement results of partners. Develop and lead an ongoing assessment of the partner’s suitability and performance within the Ventures program.
  • Support the product areas for new product development, providing ongoing feedback and expertise as it relates to your assigned Partner(s). Stay abreast of new solution offerings that align with Ventures initiatives and facilitate engagement when appropriate.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

    The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

    $75,500.00-$142,700.00

    Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
