Located in Brunswick, Maine, Bowdoin College boasts a student population of almost 2000. We make everything from scratch and are consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining! We have our own butcher shop, bakeshop, and organic garden that all supply food to our two dining halls and three retail locations.

Under the supervision of the Lead Cook, the Cook III at Magee’s Grill is responsible for preparing daily menu items according to recipe specifications. While the primary focus will be the Grill station, the Cook III is expected to work all kitchen stations as needed.

Pay, Benefits, and Perks:

• The starting pay range for this position will be $20.50/hour. Compensation based on your skills and experience.
• New employees in Dining will receive a $500 sign-on bonus (½ paid at first check and ½ paid after 90 days of eligibility requirements are met).

Education/Skills Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or vocational/technical degreepreferred
• Working knowledge of basic cooking techniques and their application in catering and/or institutional settings
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
• A valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet the eligibility requirements of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Use Policy

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

• At least 1 year of experience in kitchen production required; 3 years of experience preferred
• Current ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

Standard Work Days and Hours

• This is a full-time, onsite year-round position working 40 hours/52 weeks (1.0 FTE) with requirements to work occasional overtime, weekends, holidays, and during weather emergencies, in addition to major college events and weekends (i.e., Parent’s Weekend, Commencement, and Reunions).
• Summer hours will be Monday to Friday 7 am – 3 pm, and academic year hours will be Sunday to Thursday 1 pm to 9 pm closing shifts
