Full job description
  • Assist in managing clinician schedules and coordinating patient flow.
  • Coordinate and assist clinicians with patient care. Functions may include but are not limited to:
  • Rooming complex and acutely ill patients.
  • Maintaining data registries and Meaningful Use information.
  • Medication reconciliation of complex medication lists.
  • Performing patient healthcare screenings per evidence-based guidelines.
  • Obtaining vital signs and weights.
  • Performing point of care testing as directed by clinician.
  • Inputting patient care orders.
  • Triaging acute concerns for patients in the office as well as over the phone.
  • Triaging referral priority.
  • Placing cardiac monitors.
  • Assisting with cardiac stress tests.
  • Assisting with bubble studies.
  • Performing ECG.
  • Placing IVs.
  • Assist with administrative responsibilities, which may include:
    • Obtaining lab/x-ray reports
    • Retrieving hospital notes
    • Reviewing referral demographic information
    • Completing forms/requisitions as needed
    • Scheduling appointments as needed
  • Review and triage cardiology referrals.
  • Be an informed clinical care resource.
  • Coordinate referrals between offices.
  • Obtain study results from other offices.
  • Refill patient medications according to protocol per clinician approval and oversight.
  • Oversight of clinical environment with attention to safety and infection control.
  • Preload patient records prior to routine visit per clinician protocol and oversight.
  • Administer routine regular and non-routine medications per standing order protocol, and/or provider orders
  • Maintain medication inventory.
  • Ensure pharmaceutical waste is appropriately disposed of.
  • Maintain emergency equipment.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Work collaboratively with all team members.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance in all patient care activities.
  • Participate in continuing and professional development.
  • Complete InterMed clinical competence expectations.
  • Special projects as assigned by lead or Clinical Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by management team

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Unencumbered active registered nurse licensure in the state of Maine, BSN preferred.
  • Current BLS/ACLS required.
    • ACLS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Proficient in Windows applications, electronic medical record preferred .
  • Excellent professional judgment, phone skills and decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrate initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and decision making.
  • Demonstrate critical and reflective thinking.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, InterMed colleagues and vendors
