Maine State Prison is seeking creative, outcome-driven candidates for the position of Chief Industries Manager in Warren, ME. This position has a concentration of Industries management at the facility and will also be responsible for the coordination of the Men’s Industry programs for the Maine Department of Corrections.

Minimum Requirements:
A six (6) year combination of education, experience, and/or training in planning and directing a production-oriented corrections program(s) which includes at least 2 years in an administrative and supervisory position demonstrating the ability to manage production processes, business and management principles, program operations, and employees.

Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:
- Plan, coordinate, oversee, and evaluate facility operations and agency-wide programming for consistent application of policies and procedures and effective operations.
- Identify and develop business partnerships with manufacturers, community stakeholders, and other state agencies to develop marketable job skills, establish markets for goods and/or skilled labor, and promote goals to expand Men’s Industries Programs that incorporate vocational programming and industries.
- Negotiate, draft, and authorize contracts and agreements with community resources and public/private agencies to encourage, develop, and negotiate mutual understanding, cooperation, and participation in the delivery of services.
- Research and analyze data concerning business plans, performance outcomes, and trends to develop budgets, work plans, and revenue projections that ensure cost/benefit feasibility, share information, and assist facility management in achieving agency-wide industries goals.
- Conduct program reviews to ensure consistent application of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
- Gather data and prepare reports associated with agency-wide industries programs to identify improvements, make program/operational modifications, and advise senior management on key matters.
- Coordinate delivery of all industry program operations with appropriate department personnel, external stakeholders, and contracted vendors to ensure efficient operations in the areas of sales, marketing, safety, training, and education.
- Review and approve business plans, budgets, policies, and procedures proposed by Correctional Industries Managers to ensure consistent agency-wide application and operational standards.
- Develop business plans and establish goals for agency-wide men’s industries programs to promote sustainable business-oriented revenue and for work/educational opportunities for residents.
- Determine production schedules and methods, and analyze product markets and production costs to determine product feasibility, establish competitive selling prices, and resident wages.
- Observe and monitor resident behavior and take appropriate action when necessary to maintain the personal safety of both staff and residents, deter escape, and reinforce security.
- Perform regular inspections of areas of responsibility to ensure compliance with facility, OSHA, and ACA standards regarding security and safety practices.
- Lead managerial staff meetings and Department Industries Committee to communicate men’s industries goals, share information, and maintain cooperative relationships.
