Sumner Middle School is on the lookout for a vibrant, dependable, and collaborative educator dedicated to both students and the realm of middle school mathematics. The successful candidate will hold a Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification #300M or #300S (consideration will be given to 6-8 and/or 7-12 mathematics certification) and/or a K-8 general certification. A current MDOE Criminal History Records Check is mandatory. Compensation is commensurate with experience and educational attainment. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging math lessons that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Develop and implement differentiated instruction strategies to meet the diverse needs of all students.
- Utilize a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social and emotional growth of students.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success and well-being.
- Integrate technology effectively into the classroom to enhance learning experiences.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in math education and classroom management.
- Implement PBIS strategies to promote positive behavior and create a supportive school culture.
- Utilize the BARR program to build strong relationships with students and identify early warning signs for potential challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for middle school math.
- Experience with PBIS and BARR is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to create engaging, student-centered lesson plans.
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for teaching and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of young learners.
