Special Knowledge / Skills: The ability to create and maintain positive relations with students, school personnel, parents, and citizens, and to collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to maintain high quality of services.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES*
1.Create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for preschool-aged children (ages 3-5)
2.Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time
3.Teaches the approved elementary curriculum adopted by the Board of Directors, and other appropriate learning activities
4.Monitors student understanding and re-teaches as necessary
5.Provides a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play
6.Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas
7.Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
8.Uses technology effectively
9.Administers District and State assessments in accordance with testing policies
10.Analyzes and uses data to inform instruction
11.Evaluates each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings and prepares progress reports and grade reports
12.Communicates regularly with parents on student progress
13.Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment
14.Selects and requisitions instructional materials and maintains required inventory records
15.Maintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities
16.Participates in curriculum and other development programs within the school or on a District level
17.Performs other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Administration from time-to-time

Job Requirements
- Education / Certification: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree; State of Maine certification and endorsement in major area of teaching; Must meet Maine State Fingerprinting Requirement
- At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
