Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

We offer a unique opportunity for Registered Nurses (RNs) who would like to experience the most gratifying form of nursing there is. We need you to assist in covering patient needs while our staff takes well-deserved time off during the next three to six months. We are interested in applicants who have previous hospice or palliative care experience. Our Presque Isle region has a great position for a registered nurse wanting to make a positive difference in someone's life! You would be responsible for providing skilled nursing services to pediatric and adult patients in their homes through assessment, and development and implementation of a plan of care, in consultation with physicians and families.

Utilizing the latest information technologies and telecommunication systems, we provide you with a variety of nursing experiences, ranging from caring for patients with medical/surgical needs as well as caring for patients with hospice and palliative care needs. In addition you would play an integral role in collaborating with other members of the patient care team. We offer paid time off that may be taken with Supervisor's prior approval. If you choose not to take paid time off, this time will be paid out to you prior to ending your temporary assignment as long as you work at least 90 days. You will be part of the weekend rotations.

Current RN license in Maine; CPR Card (Must be BLS Healthcare Provider); Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and agency required auto liability insurance. Ability to travel in assigned service area.

You must be able to attend a two week long Orientation. This orientation/training time will be paid as meeting time at $33/hour. Special temporary pay will begin the first full week following your two week long orientation and end at the completion of your temporary assignment.

Summary:
Directs and supervises the provision of healthcare to patients in their place of residence. Assesses patient health problems and needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, and maintains medical records. Administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. Advises patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provides case management.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with members of the healthcare team to provide integrative care for all patients through assessment, care plan development, and evaluation of patient outcomes as supported by completed documentation.
  • Administers medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Records patients' medical information and vital signs within the electronic medical record.
  • Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients' conditions within electronic medical record.
  • Performs complete and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record as indicated per Agency policy.
  • Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans and modifies plan of care based on patient outcomes.
  • Provides service and produces work at or above expected levels of quality and consistent with agency defined quantitative standards.
  • Maintains and exhibits a current knowledge of profession and participates in continuing education.
  • Maintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
  • May perform other duties upon request.

Other information:
Current license to drive in the state of Maine, with reliable transportation and agency required auto liability insurance. Must be able to travel within assigned region, or statewide, depending on the position.
