About Team / Role

WEX Inc. is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Events Coordinator for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Events and Community Engagement, based in Portland, Maine. This role is pivotal in supporting our employee resource groups (ERGs) and their events, ensuring they have the necessary resources and assistance to thrive. The Events Coordinator will also contribute to philanthropic engagements, sponsorship activations, and conferences. This in-person role is based at our Portland, Maine headquarters.

How you'll make an impact

  • Develop and execute engaging DEI-related and Community Engagement events and activities that align with our company’s values and business goals. Workshops, speaker series, community engagement initiatives, and more.
  • Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, catering, collateral, transportation, and accommodations.
  • Manage event timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful execution.
  • Identify and develop engagement opportunities internally within WEX’s hub location and externally through participation in national conferences.
  • Provide operational support to ERGs, fostering collaboration and amplifying their impact.
  • Assist in developing event agendas, promotional materials, and communication plans.
  • Ensure ERGs have access to the necessary tools and resources for their initiatives.
  • Cultivate a vibrant and inclusive work environment by organizing ERG events, promoting awareness, and celebrating diversity.
  • Partner with the WEX Philanthropy team to execute events and initiatives, amplifying our commitment to social good.
  • Manage and staff sponsorship activations, ensuring all deliverables are met, maximizing ROI, and fostering strong relationships with valued partners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maximize event impact.
  • Gather feedback from events to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance future events.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate relevant insights into event planning.

Experience you'll bring

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Communications, or related field.
  • Possess proven experience in event planning and coordination, preferably within a corporate or nonprofit setting.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Are proficient in event management software and Google Workspace.
  • Have a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
