Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must successfully pass a pre-employment Drug Test
Must be at least 21 years of age

Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED with at least 1-3 years related experience
Maine CDL w/ School Bus Endorsement
Associates degree or higher preferred

Knowledge and Experience
Experience in communicating with students, parents, and staff
Leadership experience a plus

JOB GOAL: To provide administrative support to the Director of Transportation; and maintain positive communications with members of the school community and public.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide confidential and administrative support to the Transportation Director; including but not limited to; annual scheduling of staff CPR/1st Aid Training, and annual Primary Student Safety Training.

Provides daily administrative support, such as payroll, forms and documents, assigning field trips, scheduling athletic trips, and other extracurricular activities needing transportation.

Responsible for AM Dispatching duties for the Transportation Department.

Work with principals, bus/van drivers, students, and parents regarding discipline or other issues.

Assists with the planning of school and summer bus routes; assists drivers with routing issues and corrections.

Record and maintain records for all transportation-related activities through electronic means.

Assist in the operation of the bus fleet by driving buses/vans whenever the Transportation Director deems it necessary.

Conform to all State laws and regulations regarding school transportation, whether driving a bus, preparing bus routes, or maintaining records.

Assist the Transportation Director in preparing all necessary, required reports for the Transportation Department.

Attends all mandatory in-service workshops and all safety-related meetings as directed by the Assistant Superintendent

Attends all meetings called by Transportation Director or District Leadership

12. Must successfully pass an annual physical exam

Performs other duties that may be reasonably requested from time-to-time by Transportation
Director

14. Drives School Bus or Van as needed in order to cover absences.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to move between district locations and/or inside/outside the vehicle
Must have the ability to effectively communicate accurate information to staff and community members
Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time

  • At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Associate degree preferred.
