Westbrook Middle School is searching for an energetic, positive School Social Worker to join our team for the 2026-2027 School Year.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
- Knowledge of Social Work principles, theories, testing, methods, etc. as well as proven behavior management methods.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Qualifications
Certification/License:
- Masters Degree in Social Work or Professional Counselor;
- Valid State of Maine License (LCSW or LCPC);
- Experience in providing therapy to children, families, and groups;
- Experience in positive behavior supports or willingness to develop in this area;
- Ability to provide training to staff in areas of specialization;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively and harmoniously with teachers, administrators, parents, and community providers in a variety of settings;
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to all aspects of the position;
- Knowledge of age appropriate social emotional development and therapy strategies.
Education:
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree in Social Work.
Experience:
- Experience in providing therapy to children, families, and groups;
- Experience in positive behavior supports or willingness to develop in this area;
- Ability to provide training to staff in areas of specialization;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively and harmoniously with teachers, administrators, parents, and community providers in a variety of settings;
