Position is located: McAuley Residence in Bangor

Work Type: Full Time

Hours Per Week: 30.00

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Summary:

The Psychiatric Clinician II conducts psychiatric and psychosocial evaluations and plans/implements evidence-based therapeutic treatment in the form of individual, group and family therapy within assigned program setting to reduce psychiatric symptoms and improve functional capacity among patients. Additional functions for the McAuley House/Acadia Healthcare partnership include providing trauma informed group curriculum (1-2 times per week); provision of weekly mental health coaching to each program participant; completion of a wellness plan for each program participant and review of this on an ongoing basis; delivery of play therapy modality to identified children in need; providing family coaching and work with the family unit on improving healthy communication, boundaries and other behavioral health needs; providing therapeutic play group for appropriate aged children and their mothers to develop skills related to healthy attachment and healing; support with admission screenings, milieu support as needed and participation in weekly program staff meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Completes comprehensive, diagnostic evaluations by collecting data which enables the identification of potential therapeutic targets for active treatment. Provides recommendations and referrals for program participants.
  • Develops initial master treatment plan and updates in collaboration with the patient and within established timeframes that identify effective interventions to achieve outcomes, and accommodate the patient's developmental level, motivation, health/spiritual beliefs, functional capabilities and strengths.
  • Implements individual, group and family therapy interventions that are evidence-based and are consistent with service plan and developmental level and needs of patient to elicit therapeutic change.
  • Modifies interventions based on continual assessment of the patient's response to treatment.
  • Articulates anticipated treatment outcomes that are patient oriented, evidence based, therapeutically sound, realistic, attainable and measurable.
  • Completes documentation that reflects evidence-based practices, active patient involvement in care, attention to objective outcomes and identification of any barriers to treatment progress.
  • Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures, reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
  • Completes documentation within required timeframes.

Other Information:

  • This job serves a local group home that provides housing and other supports to parents who have been recently reunited with their children after a period of separation due to the parent’s difficulties with substance abuse.
