Educate Maine is seeking a Communications and Events Intern for Spring 2025 to work on our Maine Career Catalyst program team. The position will report to the MCC Internship Program Manager and work with other team members across the state. This position is a hybrid role with work primarily being done from home or in our Portland, ME home office.
Successful candidates will be enrolled in a degree program with a minimum of 2nd year standing at the time of application, and studying, but not limited to; Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Events Management, Education, or a related field. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in communications, event planning, and/or marketing with opportunities to engage with businesses, organizations, and participants in a variety of ways. Learning outcomes in this role will include project management, event planning, communication with peers and professionals, and working in a hybrid environment.
The Communications and Events Intern will:
- Help plan the Maine Career Catalyst Summer Internship Program’s calendar of events for 2025 including assisting with event logistics and planning.
- Maintain our library of branded materials and support event promotion and outreach.
- Lead the program’s social media presence.
- Support updates and content creation for the program website.
- Coordinate, schedule, and solicit feedback from peers and partners while actively participating in the events.
- Support business development efforts.
- Communicate and build a network via phone, email, and social media with contacts and partners.
- Support other Educate Maine programming as needed.
Job requirements:
- Strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with professional social media posting across platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Capable of working independently and in a team
- Ability to be a role model in social situations with peers and professionals
- Experience with WordPress, Canva, Google Sites, Constant Contact, and/or SurveyMonkey preferred
- Ability to travel locally, primarily in southern Maine
- Reside in the state of Maine during the internship period
This is a part-time, 10-12 hours per week. The internship will run for up to 13 weeks, beginning no later than February 10th and end no earlier than May 9th, 2025 with some flexibility based on the student's school-related needs. Hours will be agreed upon after the interview process to accommodate intern’s school schedule. There may be potential for evening hours to support planned events. All dates will be available in advance for these evening events.
