Requirements
Education, Training or Certifications Required:
- Current Maine RN license.
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE.
- National certification encouraged.
Experience Required:
- Proficient in nursing process.
- Proficient in Medication administration.
- One year acute care experience
- Perinatal nursing experience preferred.
- Proficient Fetal Monitoring
Special Requirements:
- Proficient IV skills.
- Familiarity with computer applications
- Emotional maturity.
- Good people skills.
- Participates in perinatal education conferences.
- Proficient patient assessment skills.
Cognitive Requirements:
- Able to collect, sort, and prioritize data.
- Ability to process complex clinical information and respond appropriately.
- Ability to learn new techniques and incorporate them into nursing practice.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand/walk for 8-12 hour shifts.
- Adequate hearing, vision, speech, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift/carry 25-50 lbs.
- Ability to perform under stress.
- General health must be such as to regularly work scheduled hours.
Environment:
- Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Potential for exposure to infectious diseases.

- American Heart Association (AHA)-Basic Cadiac Life Support (BCLS).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- STABLE Certification
- Annual electronic fetal monitoring principles education/assessment
- National certification in specialty (encouraged).
- American Heart Association (AHA)-Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Participates in prenatal education conferences.
- Certified Lactation Counselor certification (encouraged).
