Job Summary
The Associate Director of Gender Violence Prevention and Health Education will be responsible designing and implementing campus programs and events related to sexual and relationship violence, consent, bystander intervention, etc. This position is also responsible for overseeing the Peer Educator program and this group’s work focusing on substance abuse and sexual health. Embedded within the with the Sexuality, Women and Gender center, this position will work closely with student leaders and student workers to support the center’s initiatives and programs.
The Associate Director will be well versed in current best practices in gender violence prevention, including trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive approaches. They will be confident and skilled in facilitating conversations on topics such as sexual violence, relationship abuse, and consent, particularly with diverse student populations. This role requires the ability to engage in these conversations with care and professionalism, while referring individuals to appropriate offices and resources. Collaboration with the Title IX office and confidential resources is essential to success.
The hiring range for this position is expected to be: $55,200 – $59,200.

Education/Skills Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Degree in gender studies, or related field preferred.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
1-3 years related experience required. Experience working in higher education, preferably in a small, liberal arts setting plus a minimum of two years’ experience in a relevant field.
- Sensitivity to and a thorough understanding of the many experiences and expressions of trauma caused by sexual violence and harassment.
- Knowledge of college health issues and specifically alcohol and other drug content.
- Proven track record of support for students and an ability and desire to work collaboratively with them.
- An understanding of the importance of listening compassionately and a history of working with confidential and sensitive information.

Standard Work Days and Hours
This is a full-time position working 40 hours/43 weeks, (0.83 FTE) with occasional evening or weekends as required. Standard administrative hours are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
The anticipated start date is mid-August, 2025.
This is an on-site role, and candidates must be able to work in person on Bowdoin College Campus in Brunswick, Maine.
