Position Overview:

We are excited to announce a new provider model and position available at PCHC! We are seeking multiple Desktop Support Providers (NPs or PAs), to provide high quality primary care services to patients at PCHC site(s). This position will also play a crucial role in supporting other medical providers within PCHC by reviewing and analyzing patient labs, imaging, consult notes, phone notes, and other medical data in patient charts. Your expertise will ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely availability of information essential for delivering high-quality patient care. This is a hybrid position, where candidate will spend time working in a primary care role as well as having specific hours devoted to desktop support. There is much flexibility depending on the schedule interests of the candidate!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs and dictates admission history and physicals.
  • Collects specimens and initiates commonly performed blood, urine, stool analysis and cultures.
  • Enters progress notes into the chart under the direction of the supervising physician.
  • Maintain desktop document current and consistent with PCHC policy of standards.
  • Triages patient phone calls and refers to the Emergency Room as necessary to be seen by on call supervising physician.
  • Advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Reviews charts for Quality Assurance and appropriate coding of patient visits.
  • Performs specific tasks under the direction of the supervising physician including the initiation and evaluation of emergency situations, e.g. cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, injuries, burns, and hemorrhage.
  • Observes safety protocols and practices in performing patient care activities.
  • Mentors’ healthcare students.
  • Review, analyze and triage to appropriate staff patient medical records, including but not limited to notes, laboratory reports, and imaging studies for colleagues out of the office.
  • Identify discrepancies or inconsistencies in medical documentation and work with providers and or their direct supervisor to address and resolve issues.
  • Provide recommendations and insights based on clinical data review to enhance patient management and treatment plans.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school with a Maine State license to practice medicine.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a medical provider.
  • Current DEA license.
  • Will have up-to-date training and certification in Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.
  • High level of proficiency in reviewing and interpreting laboratory results, imaging studies, and other clinical data.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with medical providers and health care teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
