Our Physicians care for patients 18 and older, whether they are healthy or sick, with a range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Their responsibilities include health maintenance and disease screening, diagnosis and care of acute and chronic medical conditions, and management of patients with multiple complex medical problems.

Position Summary

Answers and greets people in a friendly, professional manner. Promotes a smooth flow of patients through the office and helps to create a calm, supportive atmosphere, able to perform various tasks as required in a medical practice paying attention to detail and accuracy, conducts all interactions with patients and personnel in a courteous, respectful manner while maintaining confidentiality. The incumbent is required to conduct all job responsibilities consistent with Southern Maine Health Care policies, procedures, and in compliance with all applicable laws or mandates relating to patient care and business activities.

Main Job Duties

•Performs patient check-ins ensuring proper paper work is completed and following office scheduling policies

•Verifies insurance and patient demographic information at every visit and accurately collects and reconciles patient payments

•Answers telephone calls and provides patients with pre-appointment information and/or education appropriate to the nature of the office visit

•Performs patient check-outs; provides patients with proper documentation of date, time and any necessary preparations for scheduled tests and referrals

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Medical Office experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective cash collection skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple activities.
  • Able to adapt to constant change and fast pace of group.
  • Valid Maine drivers license.
  • Ability to travel to other locations as needed.
