Job Summary

This position provides expertise in library acquisitions, with responsibilities for ordering, receiving, and reporting functions across all subject areas, methods, and formats, for all continuing resources. Collaborates with colleagues within the Library, across Bowdoin, and with CBB and other consortia partners to ensure the timely renewal of subscriptions and accurate and prompt payment of all invoices. Oversees the entry and reconciliation of all collection invoices in both Workday and Alma, including troubleshooting errors and provides advanced accounting for split invoices, prepaid invoices, credits, refunds, and rebills. Manages advanced acquisitions functions including the library’s DDA and EBA purchases and deposit accounts. Analyzes operations, identifies opportunities, and iteratively refines workflows, policies, and procedures to obtain library resources in a timely, fiscally responsible, and effective manner.

Education/Skills Requirements

Masters degree or equivalent experience required.

1. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and a commitment to collaboration and flexibility.

2. Ability to pay close attention to detail.

3. Skilled at collecting, analyzing, and making decisions from complex data.

4. Knowledge of library acquisitions and technical services operations.

5. Knowledge of library collection development principles and trends.

6. Knowledge of current national trends in the application of technology to library operations.

7. Knowledge of principles and practices of bibliographic control.

8. Knowledge of principles and practices of organizational finance and purchasing.

9. Ability to work with consortial partners.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

1-3 years experience required. 4-7 years preferred.

Standard Work Days and Hours

This is an exempt position requiring time commitment necessary to satisfactorily complete job requirements. Hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Schedules may vary to meet operational needs.

The salary range for this position is expected to be: $71,500 – $75,500
