Job Description

RSU14, Windham Raymond School District, is made up of a dynamic team of special education staff and related services providers.

Pending budget approval in June, we have an anticipated opening for a Behavior Consultant for the 2025 - 2026 school year.
The candidate hired for this position will work closely with the district's contracted Behavior Consulting Team to ensure practices and procedures
are implemented with fidelity across the district. The successful candidate will serve as the district's liaison between staff, central office administrators,
building administrators, and the contracted Behavior Consulting Team. The candidate will assist the Student Services Director and the Assistant Student
Services Director in developing and maintaining a continuum of services based on students’ social, emotional, and functional needs.

Knowledge and Experience:
* Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with students, school personnel, parents, and citizens, and to collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to maintain a high quality of services.
* Knowledge of special education law and legal requirements at both the state and federal levels.
* Minimum of 3 years teaching special education with K-12 students.
* Strong background in the teaching/learning process.
* Understanding of the developmental, social, and emotional needs of children.
* Training and experience in developing data-driven Positive Behavioral Support Plans and implementing behavioral intervention techniques; administering Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA).
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Ability to lead and manage group meetings and to provide meaningful professional development for all staff.


Below is a list of some of the essential duties and responsibilities for this position:
• Assist special education staff in examining teaching practices to effectively meet the functional, behavioral, and emotional needs of all students.
* Use data and individual student needs assessment to drive Positive Behavioral Support Plan development.
* Use ongoing assessments and data collection to refine behavioral interventions, assess student growth in relation to goals, and provide
high-quality, informed instruction, and meaningful feedback to foster student learning.
* Provide assistance, guidance, and training to school administration and staff in behavioral intervention strategies; all interventions provided are research-based,
reflect best practice, and include consideration of the function of the behavior and contributing variables.
* Participate, as needed, in the school’s pre-referral teams to provide instructional information and expertise regarding Response to Intervention (RtI).
* Promote positive student behavior by developing a culture of respect, active student investment and participation, and rapport across a continuum of educational settings.
* Be a member of committees that the Student Services Director deems necessary.
* Attend Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings as necessary.
* Participate in regularly scheduled special education department meetings.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Services, the Assistant Director of Student Services, the Assistant Superintendent, or the Superintendent.

Job Requirements

  • Education/Certification
    * A Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Special Education is preferred
    * Valid Maine Department of Education Certification as a Special Education Consultant (079) preferred; Special Education Teacher K-8 and 7-12 (282) required
    * Must meet Maine Criminal History Records Check Approval requirements
  • At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Master degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
