Northeastern University's OHDSI Lab is a research core facility dedicated to fostering collaboration and advancing research in methodology and real-world evidence (RWE) generation. The lab serves as a hub for researchers, students, faculty, and both academic and commercial partners, by providing an environment conducive to learning, method testing, and innovative research. By leveraging the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) framework, the lab aims to enable comprehensive and reproducible data analysis and evidence generation, supporting impactful healthcare research and policymaking.

The OHDSI Lab core facility is Northeastern University’s is being established as our newest research core. Its mission is to enhance collaborative research and education in health data science. We strive to empower researchers, students, and partners with the tools and methodologies necessary to generate high-quality real-world evidence, advance methodological research, and drive innovative healthcare solutions to contribute to the improvement of health outcomes and the advancement of healthcare knowledge.

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities for the Lab Administrator include: Oversee day-to-day operations and ongoing development of the OHDSI Lab. This includes onboarding new users, managing user subscriptions, developing user trainings, and ensuring a smooth user experience. Secondly, collaborate with software developers to troubleshoot any issues with the OHDSI Lab, create new features as needed, and conduct quality assurance testing. Thirdly, provide research support for users of the OHDSI Lab. This includes working with faculty and other analysts to develop scripts and analytical code to implement research protocols for large observational health data (e.g., electronic medical record data, insurance claims data). It also includes assisting lab users with OHDSI tools such as ATLAS or using the OMOP Common Data Model, support the development of training materials, and maintaining existing R packages. Finally, the Lab Administrator will help create awareness about the Facility and pursue collaboration opportunities while interacting with the research community e.g. at conferences and workshops.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Self-motivated and goal-driven individual who can work independently and on a team
  • Exceptional organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate skills in R, SQL, git, and/or python
  • Knowledge of data structures and types, especially relational databases
  • Familiarity with basic statistical principles and models
  • Knowledge and skills required for this position are typically acquired through a bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health informatics, data science, analytics, epidemiology, public health or related fields

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.)Oversee day-to-day operations and ongoing development of the OHDSI Lab.
