InterMed is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to provide crucial support to our Finance and Accounting team. This person will report to the Payroll Administrator and be a contributing member of the Accounting and Finance department. The successful candidate will need to have a sharp eye for detail, excellent mathematical and time management skills, and the ability to multitask. Strong communication, organization, technological, and problem-solving skills are also necessary. Honesty, trustworthiness, and reliability are integral to this position. The ability to work well as a team member and individually are crucial, as well as the ability to handle sensitive information.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Process payroll from beginning to end, including review of our time system for missing and incorrect entries (i.e., intern entering PTO day), calculate regular vs overtime hours in conjunction with labor laws, enter employee payroll changes in UKG (addresses, direct deposit accounts, deduction and/or tax changes, etc.), create excel import file, reconcile pay changes, save source documents
· Maintain employee payroll data in UKG: earnings, deductions (including benefit feed insurances), tax withholding allowances, employee bank direct deposit info, HR census data
· Bring over all new employees from Onboarding to payroll, and review coding to ensure payroll database integrity
· Assist in processing bi-weekly payroll with particular attention to accuracy and detail
· Assist in maintaining payroll database integrity regarding address formatting, dates, etc. for the purpose of history recapture and firm reporting
· Respond to email, phone, or in-person questions from employees regarding their paychecks
· Ability to answer ‘what if’ scenarios (i.e., income tax withholding) from employees using module my pay in UKG
· Prepare bi-weekly payroll journal entries. Payroll reconciliations monthly and on bi-weekly basis as needed or in the Payroll Administrators absence
· Participate on the annual Open Enrollment team and assist in bringing changes over into UKG working closely with the Benefit team to ensure accuracy with the process
· Review the Payroll Processing Manual on an annual basis, incorporating changes to the payroll process that may have occurred
· Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.
· Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Education:
o AS or BS in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field strongly preferred
· Experience:
o 2-4 years of experience in payroll processing or related roles like bookkeeping, accounting, or HR required.
· License/Certifications:
o Payroll certification preferred, such as FPC or CPP.
· Proficiency in payroll software and systems (UKG preferred).
· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
· Knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws.
· Familiarity with payroll reports and procedures.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
· Strong organizational skills and time management.
· Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
· Problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
