LEGISLATIVE PRODUCTION SPECIALIST

The Office of the Revisor of Statutes, the nonpartisan staff office responsible for drafting and processing legislation and maintaining the Maine Revised Statutes, is seeking a Legislative Production Specialist who values public service and is enthusiastic about supporting the important work of the Maine Legislature. This is a full-time position working on site in Augusta. A Legislative Production Specialist prepares legislative documents using document processing and database systems; proofreads documents for accuracy of spelling, grammar, punctuation and references; performs related tasks requiring knowledge of the format, style and organization of the laws of the State; and other office duties as assigned. An employee in this position works in a highly confidential and nonpartisan manner.  Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, able to work under short deadlines and work accurately under pressure.  Evening or weekend work occasionally required depending on legislative or operational needs.

 

Desired Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; at least two years word-processing and related computer work experience, especially with Microsoft Office; ability to efficiently and accurately produce documents, reports and spreadsheets and analyze and resolve issues related to document production; ability to learn specialized document processing and database systems; excellent attention to detail, accuracy and ability to work under short deadlines; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; knowledge of or ability to learn format, style and organization of Maine laws.

 

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.  The salary for this position is Grade 4, which begins at $21.86 per hour.  The biweekly dollar values of some State-paid benefits for full-time employees in Grade 4 include: $14.92 for dental insurance; 13.29% of employee’s pay towards retirement; and at least 85% ($466.54) of health insurance premiums (more information is available here).
