The Economic Development Director is responsible for the collaborative strategic direction and vision for economic and community development, and implementation of economic develpment plans, programs, services, and resources. This position includes working collaboratively with Planning, Assessing and Codes. The Director will work to provide guidance and support to individuals, existing and propspective businesses, companies, and industries to establish, relocate or expand their businesses within the community. This position includes assisting with the planning and coordination of community develpment projects; assisting business and residential applicants with local and State permitting processes; and providing economic, community development and grant/resource guidance. This position is responsible for business attraction, retention, and expansion programs; and manages business development tools, serving as lead staff for Tax Increment Financing (TIF), and managing the TIF Development Programs and budgets.
This position reports to the Town Manager. Considerable independent judgement is exercised in performing the daily functions of the position.
It is preferred that the ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, economics, planning or a related field. Five plus (5+) years of experience in economic and community development is desired. Any combination of education and experience that would provide qualified experience applicable.
